Risk Management Limited was formed in April 1999 in Caterham, South of London. We have recently moved offices to Godalming, Surrey close to Guildford and the A3 and UK Motorway Network. Our Accounts and some of our managerial departments are based in our office near Chichester, West Sussex. 

We specialise in Desk Studies, Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Ground Investigations, associated Laboratory Testing and provision of professional reports. Giving clear and concise recommendations based on the investigation findings. Work is carried out by experienced geotechnical and geo-environmental engineers, geologists and geo-chemists and provides quality factual information to Consulting Engineers and Main Contractors from a single source.


Risk Management then regularly provide interpretative information on the ground conditions at any given site for subsequent foundation design and environmental assessment.

In addition to the above noted core business, Risk Management can also provide a remediation strategy for contaminated sites, oversee the “clean-up” and provide a remediation certificate and report, fully supported by our insurance’s, in order to provide the funder comfort with regard to future liabilities.

Risk Management are an Associate Member of the Association of Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Specialists (AGS) and are also registered as pre-qualified under the ConstructionLine scheme. In addition, we are accredited to SMAS Worksafe Contractor & Consultant. Site operatives carry Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) cards. Ground investigations are undertaken in accordance with BS 5930 and geotechnical testing to BS 1377. UKAS laboratories are used for chemical testing which are also MCERTS accredited. Geotechnical laboratory facilities are based in Godalming, Surrey.

In addition, where required, Risk Management can provide a comprehensive range of geotechnical design services. Our interpretative reporting capability typically includes settlement and bearing capacity design information, indicative pile design, road pavement design parameters and discussion of ground improvement techniques suitable to a specific site and proposed end use. In addition, the discussion can be extended, if necessary, to include comments on earthworks and excavations, and the hydrogeology of the site.

Risk Management reports can also be extended to include advice on remediation strategy for a site and include liaison with Statutory Authorities as necessary. Auxiliary services include landfill gas monitoring and site remediation project management.

Risk Management Managing Director, Malcolm Price, served for some 10 years as Membership & Publicity Chairman of the Association of Geotechnical & Geo-environmental Specialists (AGS). Malcolm also sat on the Business Practice Working Group and the Main Executive Committee of the AGS plus the Editorial Board of the specialist publication, Ground Engineering.

Risk Management operate an internally audited QA system and currently carry Professional Indemnity insurance of £1M for any one accident and in all.
